Passenger Slumps, Dies At Lagos Airport

An Arik Air passenger on transit from London en-route Lagos to Owerri on Sunday slumped at the entrance of the General Aviation Terminal of the Murtala Muhammed Airport, Lagos.
Our correspondent learnt that the incident happened around 6am and the passenger was confirmed dead at the Aviation Clinic after he was rushed there for medical attention.It was learnt that the passenger was accompanied by his wife and his brother when the incident occurred.
The spokesperson for Arik Air, Mr. Banji Ola, told our correspondent that the passenger slumped in front of the departure hall.“I learnt that the passenger tripped and died. He hit his head on the floor. He was not onboard Arik. He tripped at the terminal and was not onboard our airplane. You may ask vendors and other people present at the terminal where the incident happened,” he said.
The passenger, it was learnt, started bleeding from his nostrils and ears before he was rushed to FAAN’s hospital where he was confirmed dead.
The General Manager, Corporate Communications, Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria, Mr. Yakubu Dati, confirmed that the passenger was accompanied by his wife and his brother when the incident occurred.
According to Dati, both relatives of the deceased proceeded to Owerri after the incident.
He said, “About 6am, a transit passenger on Arik flight en-route London-Lagos-Owerri slumped at the entrance of the departure hall, terminal 1. He was immediately rushed to the Aviation Clinic where he was confirmed dead.
The passenger’s wife and brother who were with the deceased later proceeded to Owerri.” -Punch
